lily and lucy

lily and lucy by Suzi Marshall
lily and lucy, a photo by Suzi Marshall on Flickr.
It was sunset when Lily and Lucy arrived at the coast. The sun was reflected on the water in millions of fragments of light dim and romantic, so a human would told, moved by the sight. They instead looked back toward the land, waiting for someone who would never come. Peering and waiting, patient, with only the lapping of the waves to accompany those silent moments.
Lily and Lucy did not know that the waiting was in vain. They would never seen a human being. The humanity had fallen in brief moments and now remained only the sound of the waves.
